IGNOU was established in 1985 by the act of parliament and now offers Admissions to 228 Certificate, Diploma, Degree and Doctoral Programs. The University has also established the Centre for Extension Education, National Centre for Disability Studies and National Centre for Disability Studies.

IGNOU Re-Registration January 2021: The re-registration deadline has been extended again till February 28, 2021. Earlier, the registration deadline was Feb 15. Candidates can visit the official website to apply for Re-registration for January 2021. IGNOU PG Diploma in Corporate Social Responsibility (PGDCSR) registration deadline is February 28, 2021. Interested candidates with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline can apply for admission in the 2021-22 academic session with a registration fee of INR 200.

Result Update: IGNOU December Term-End Examination (TEE) 2020 has been declared today (Feb 23, 2021). Check IGNOU TEE Dec 2020 Result by entering 9-Digit enrolment number at the online result portal (ignou.ac.in).

IGNOU has been a world leader in distance education and has been conferred with the Commonwealth of Learning (COL) awards of excellence, Canada several times. With the changing times, IGNOU is transforming itself as a technologically driven University. The emphasis is now on adding value to the traditional distance education delivery mode by transferring the availability of learning resources online to various platforms, i.e. Virtual class, eGyanKosh and Education Broadcast.

IGNOU has recently launched M.Sc in Environmental Science course from January 2021 session. The course focuses on building a workforce to prevent problems related to environmental hazards and emphasises sustainable development. Candidates can visit the official website to apply for M.Sc in Environmental Studies before February 28. The most prominent courses IGNOU offers are B.Ed, MBA, M.Ed, MA, BCA, MCA, M.Sc, PhD, M.Com, BSW, MSW and many more. In the times of COVID 19, the University has further launched many online courses to support learners’ educational endeavours. IGNOU launched the Diploma programme in Value Education (DPVE) on February 11. Candidates can visit the official website to apply. Candidates with a higher secondary passing certificate can apply for the DPVE course.

IGNOU has launched a certificate course on “Environmental, Occupational Hazard” on the SWAYAM portal. Online classes will begin on February 15, 2021. Meanwhile, IGNOU Admission 2021 for January Cycle has begun at the official website: ignou.ac.in. Interested candidates can apply for fresh admission till February 28, 2021. Applicants have to register first using an Email ID and mobile number. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria and application fee for their respective courses for applying.

Registration to all the courses offered by IGNOU is conducted twice a year, i.e. in July and December. Application for Admission to various IGNOU courses can be filled by visiting ignou.ac.in. The university also conducts semester wise exams or the Term End Exams (TEE) for its courses held twice a year.

IGNOU Admission Process

Candidates willing for admissions to various courses by IGNOU are selected o the basis of eligibility for the particular course followed by the Entrance score/ merit required in the examination. For example, selection to the MBA program is made based on OPENMAT Score, whereas for Nursing Courses, IGNOU conducts OpenNet, and prior experience is also required. However, for admission to MA, M.Com, MCA, BA, B.Com courses, IGNOU grants admission based on the merit in the last qualifying examination.

IGNOU Admissions: How to Apply?

The registration process for IGNOU is totally online, and applicants can visit ignou.ac.in and opt for online registration. Next, the candidate needs to fill in the following OAS page with all the required information and attach all the required documents such as a scanned copy of the photo and signature, age proof, and scanned copy of marks sheet and certificates.

IGNOU facilitates students to check their Application status once the application is submitted by simply clicking on the “Know Your Status” Option. The students can also re-register themselves by following a similar process.

Moreover, international students residing in India, having a valid student visa are also eligible for various IGNOU Courses. They will be required to pay an international fee applicable to them and apply on ignou.ac.in. However, programs with a limited number of seats are not offered to foreign candidates.

IGNOU Scholarships

IGNOU also offers financial assistance to students belonging to reserved categories viz. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. IGNOU Scholarship and Fee reimbursements are only issued to the students who are financially week or single girl child to their parents. To avail of the scholarships, candidates are required to fill the application form on the IGNOU website.

Candidates from rural areas are entitled to a 50% fee concession subject to a domicile certificate. The urban students below the poverty line may be given a 50% fee concession. Moreover, Jail inmates residing and under trial in Indian prisons are also exempted from payment of programme fee, including the registration fee.

IGNOU Placements 

IGNOU Placement cell was established in 2005, and since then, the university has been successfully conducting placement drives and offering considering placements to students onboard. The Campus Placement Cell (CPC) further extends its base by introducing various new initiatives like soft skill development.

IGNOU: Assignment, Exam Form, Result/ Grade Card

IGNOU Course assignments are an integral part of the semester wise course structure, holding a 30% weightage in the overall marking scheme.

Moving on, IGNOU requires students to fill in the exam forms for appearing in the Term End Exams (TEE) twice a year. Here, candidates can choose the examinations they wish to appear in in the current term and pay accordingly. Once the exams are over, the university releases the Grade Cards of students in online mode.

Currently ranked among the largest open universities globally, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was established in 1985 and currently offers 227 academic programmes through 21 schools and 67 Regional Centres spread across the country.

Admissions are either entrance based or based on scores obtained in the previous qualifying examination. More admission related details are as follows:

  • Admissions to courses like BA, B.Com, B.Sc., BCA, BSW, BAVTM, etc., are based on merit, that is, scores obtained in 10+2 or its equivalent.
  • BLIS admissions are based on scores in bachelor’s degree or one-year Diploma in Library Science are eligible to apply.
  • BBA in Retail (RL) admission is based on merit. But BBA in Service Management (SM) admission is based on entrance followed by an interview.
  • Applicants are shortlisted for MBA admission based on their bachelor’s scores plus OPENMAT scores.
  • For admission to M.Com, MA, M.Sc., applicants are required to have passed a bachelor’s degree in their corresponding subject.
  • MCA admission is based on scores in bachelor’s with Mathematics or pursues BCS12 course concurrently with MCA.
  • MTTM aspirants can apply if they hold a relevant bachelor’s degree or UG degree in related subjects like Tourism, Hotel Management, etc.
  • Ph.D applicants must hold an M.Phil degree or Master’s degree with at least 55% aggregate.
  • PG Diploma admissions are based on graduation in any relevant subject. At the same time, Diploma admissions are based on scores obtained in 10+2 or its equivalent.

Note: Re-Registrations are only for those who are not applying for Semester based or for Certificate programmes.

Hall tickets for Term End Examination

IGNOU has made available the Hall Tickets for the Term End Examinations (TEE) for all the university courses. In addition to it, the university has also published the corresponding Grade Card for the results.

Candidates can view and download the hall ticket from the official IGNOU website.

Steps to download IGNOU Hall Ticket:

1. Log on to the official IGNOU website and click the ‘Hall Tickets for the Term End Exam’ link.

IGNOU UG and PG Admission 2021

IGNOU offers a wide variety of Distance UG courses under various specialization for 10+2 qualified students. Admission to the IGNOU courses usually commences in February, and the selection of eligible candidates is made based on their 10+2 examination marks. Apart from the Bachelor’s degree, the college also provides several Diploma courses for Undergraduate students.

IGNOU MBA Admission 2021

IGNOU offers a wide range of academic programs under the School of Management Studies. It offers an MBA along with a PG diploma and diploma courses. These courses are for a minimum period of two and a half years. Candidates seeking admission must have completed graduation in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks for the general category and should also have cleared the OPENMAT examination conducted by IGNOU.

The institute offers an MBA as a General subject and under the specialization of Banking and Finance. It also offers a PG Diploma under the following streams of Management:

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (PGDHRM), or
  • Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (PGDFM), or

IGNOU MBA Selection Criteria

Selection of candidates to the IGNOU management programs (MBA, DIM, PGDIM and PG Diplomas in HRM, FM, OM, MM, and FMP) will be made based on the score obtained in the OPENMAT, conducted all over India twice a year. Subsequently, a result card will be dispatched to all the candidates who have appeared in the OPENMAT examination. It will indicate whether the candidate has qualified or not for the IGNOU MBA programs based on the university guidelines’ cut-off score.

Candidates seeking admission to IGNOU management programs can register for OPENMAT by downloading the information brochure containing the application form and send it upon completion along with the prescribed fee. For the current academic session, the OPENMAT XLVII entrance test for management programs will be conducted in December. Candidates can download the hall ticket/ admit card for OPENMAT XLVII from the official IGNOU website upon entering their Enrolment Number.

IGNOU B.Ed and M.Ed. Admission 2021

In addition to various UG, PG and Research courses, IGNOU also offers Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education, each of two years duration. Admission to the B.Ed and M.Ed. program is made based on marks obtained by the candidate in the entrance test, conducted by IGNOU at all India level. Hall tickets for the entrance tests can be downloaded by the participating students from the official IGNOU website. IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Test is usually held in August every year.

IGNOU M.Phil and Ph.D Admission 2021

The university also provides the candidates with an opportunity to research their respective fields of study by offering M.Phil. and Ph.D. courses under different specializations. For the July academic session, the university is offering Ph.D. in 12 subjects and an M.Phil course in 2 subjects. Eligible candidates are required to appear for the university entrance test for admission to M.Phil/Ph.D. course. In the case of Ph.D, candidate holding M.Phil. Degree (along with course work and dissertation both) or those candidates who have cleared NET (conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICAR) or any other equivalent examination will be exempted from appearing in the Entrance Test. IGNOU BCA and MCA Admission 2021

IGNOU offers BCA and MCA under the School of Computer & Information Sciences. The duration of both courses is 3-years.  Candidates applying for B.Sc must have passed 10+2 or its equivalent. While those who wish to apply for MCA must have passed Bachelor’s degree with Mathematics as a compulsory subject at 10+2 or Graduation level. Admission to BCA and MCA is based on the merit of 10+2 marks and Bachelor’s degree, respectively.

IGNOU B.L.I.Sc., B.Sc Nursing, BPP and BSW Admission 2021

IGNOU offers B.L.I.Sc., B.Sc Nursing, BPP and BSW at the UG level. All the Bachelor courses’ duration is 3-years except Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) and B.L.ISc, which are of 1-year duration. The minimum requirement differs as per the course. The selection of eligible candidates is based on their 10+2 examination marks.

IGNOU Certificate Programs Admission 2021

IGNOU offers 78 certificate programs at the UG and PG levels under the discipline of Engineering, Management, Banking and other Vocations. As per IGNOU’s notification on September 16, 2021, it has launched a new programme in Mobile Applications Development (CMAD). This is through open and distance learning.

IGNOU Certificate Program Eligibility Criteria

  • To be eligible for admission to any of these programs, the candidates must possess a relevant qualification (Engineering graduate/Engineering Diploma Holders/Science/Commerce/ Arts Graduates).
  • The candidates must possess a particular work experience of at least two years for certain certificate programs.

IGNOU offers 4 noncredit programs for a duration of 1-3 Months. IGNOU Application Process 2021

For July 2021 session, applications for admission to various UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate in Korean Language and Culture, Certificate in the Japanese Language, and Post Graduate Certificate in Acupuncture will start in November / December 2021.

  1. The application form can be submitted online through the official IGNOU website.
  2. The candidates are advised to download the prospectus and read the instructions carefully before filling up the form.
  3. The candidates should remember their Username and Password for subsequent login.
  4. The following methods can pay the application fee.
    • Credit Card (Master/Visa)
    • Debit Card (Master/Visa/Rupay)
    • Net Banking
    • ATM Card (PNB)

Steps for Online Registration:

Step 1: Before registration, all the first time applicants are advised to check the details, including eligibility criteria, fee details, duration, etc. for the desired program from the Online Admission System” portal available on the official IGNOU website

Step 2: Upon verifying the necessary details, candidates should click on the “Register Yourself” button, which appears in the applicant login area and fills in the required registration details.

  • User Name entered must be between 8 to 16 characters.
  • Password entered must be alphanumeric and between 8 to 16 characters.

Step 3: Upon filling in the mandatory information, the candidate should click the “SUBMIT” button. The candidate’s username will be instantly sent to the registered e-mail ID and SMS. The student must remember his/her username and Password for subsequent login.

Note: Already registered/ existing users must click the “Login” button and enter their username along with the password to go any further.

Step 4: Upon registering through the “Login” button, the candidate will be required to enter personal details, program details, qualification details, course details, and correspondence details.

  • If the candidate subjects are different from the subjects mentioned, they should click the “Others” checkbox.
  • For candidates qualifying for graduation and above, he/she should select “9999” in the field of “Board Code.”

Pre-requisites for filling up the application form online:

Before filling-up the form online, candidates must possess the following documents:

  • Scanned Photograph (less than 100 KB in size)
  • Scanned Signature (less than 100 KB in size)
  • Scanned copy of Age Proof
  • Scanned copy of relevant Educational Qualification (less than 400 KB in size)
